IoT + block programming for Vietnamese students- built a fullstack platform from scratch: React web app, AWS Lambda backend, ESP8266 firmware. Won competitions. Won incubation. Failed anyway. The reason I joined GaraSTEM.
Web-based block programming editor on Google Blockly. Students drag functional blocks, generate bytecode, send programs to ESP8266 over WiFi. No install. No USB cable. Just browser and kit. Built classroom analytics dashboard tracking student program uploads, block usage, and sensor readings in real time.
Serverless backend on AWS- device registration, program dispatch, telemetry collection. Lambda functions receive block programs from the web app, route them to devices via MQTT, and log execution data for classroom analytics.
Three hardware prototypes before finding the right manufacturer. ESP8266-based controller, WiFi-connected, modular sensor ports. Temperature, light, ultrasonic, motor. Firmware receives block programs over WiFi via MQTT and executes them in real time.

How I Use AI Without Becoming One
Pure execution is getting cheap. Machines are better at it every day. What stays scarce- judgment, how you talk to people, emotional resilience, and the ability to hold steady when everything is ambiguous. That's where the ceiling actually is. Not in how fast you generate code. I use AI to move faster through boilerplate, refactors, research, first drafts. But I stay in the driver's seat.
